It's time for AUDITIONS for TFOJB Estherville! We need actors of all descriptions for 11 parts and possibly a few extras for this play. It's a very fun show, which actors have loved performing, and it's brand new to Iowa.
If you've been invited to this, but you don't consider yourself an actor, you might a) audition anyway; dozens of past cast members from NYC and Boston absolutely loved performing in it; b) share on your timeline if you would, so your friends will know about it. Thank you! c) be on the crew or spread the word.
Auditions will be held Monday, Jan. 9 and Thurs. Jan 12, both at 6 p.m., and will last until about 8:30 p.m. You do not have to attend both nights. Callbacks, as necessary, will be Friday, Jan. 13, also beginning at 6 p.m. All at Estherville UMC, one block south of the intersections of Hwys 4 and 9 in Estherville.
If you'd like to prepare a brief monologue, particularly if it is slam poetry/spoken word art, that would be fine. It is *not* at all necessary, however. We will be posting sides (audition excerpts) for auditions before Jan. 1.
See the pinned post at TFOJB Estherville for character descriptions.
The performance dates are March 3, 4, and with enough tickets sold, a matinee on the 5th. Venue(s) TBA; final arrangements are pending with Roosevelt Theatre. There may be other opportunities for performances or remix (excerpted) performances in Emmetsburg, Spirit Lake, etc.
Director Lisa Metcalf Guinn has directed plays with what was Lakes Community Theatre.
Estherville playwright Ash Sanborn is better known as reporter E'ville Amy by day. The play has had a performance run in New York City's Manhattan Rep Theatre and a public reading in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood, thanks to technical assistance from Open Theatre Project. This is the midwestern and Iowa debut.
